Instead of a long drive, you fly from Arusha to the remote northern Serengeti and settle into a migration camp near the Mara River, where the herds gather to cross. Two nights later you move to the Central Serengeti, then up into the cool Ngorongoro Highlands for a full crater day.

  • Fly-in to the northern Serengeti (Kogatende)
  • Mara River crossing season
  • Four nights in the Serengeti

Day 1

Arrival in Tanzania

Karibu Tanzania – welcome to Tanzania. On arrival at the airport you will be met by one of our team. After the meet and greet, we escort you to your accommodation in Arusha (approximately 60 km), ready for the safari tomorrow.

Meals: Breakfast
Day 2

Fly to the northern Serengeti

Fly to the fabled Serengeti and settle into your remote, authentic camp. Set out on one of the oldest and least changed ecosystems on earth, where the circle of life plays out every day. It is home to one of the world's largest concentrations of wildlife, and the region hosts the spectacular Great Migration as wildebeest and zebra arrive in search of grass and water.

Meals: All meals
Day 3

Northern Serengeti – the migration

A full day following the herds in the north, positioned for the Mara River crossings when the migration is in the area.

Meals: All meals
Day 4

Drive to the Central Serengeti

Spend the day exploring the vast Serengeti plains. The name 'Serengeti' comes from the Maasai language and means 'endless place'. The open savannah and wooded grassland are home to lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, elephant, giraffe and a host of plains game and birdlife. The Serengeti–Ngorongoro ecosystem hosts the Great Wildebeest Migration: millions of wildebeest and zebra moving year-round between Tanzania and Kenya, and in the early months of each year the short-grass plains become the setting for the calving season.

Meals: All mealsOptional: Hot-air balloon safari – $546 per person
Day 5

Central Serengeti

Today we enjoy morning and afternoon game drives on the vast Serengeti plains. In the early morning and evening light, the landscape is stunningly beautiful. The Serengeti ecosystem supports the greatest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa – more than three million large mammals – and never disappoints. Depending on wildlife movement, we serve a picnic lunch at a scenic site or return to the lodge for a hot lunch.

Meals: All meals
Day 6

Serengeti – Ngorongoro Highlands

After an early breakfast, game drive en route through the Serengeti before heading to the Ngorongoro Highlands. The crater – a UNESCO World Heritage Site formed millions of years ago, 600 m deep and around 260 km² – holds roughly 25,000 animals. Arrive in time for lunch and relax at the lodge.

Meals: All meals
Day 7

Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast we descend some 610 metres into the crater – an abundance of wildlife and a photographer's paradise – for a full day of game viewing with a picnic lunch at the hippo pool. Ngorongoro, the largest intact caldera in the world, teems with resident wildlife: prides of lion, herds of Cape buffalo, impala, Thomson's gazelle, rhino, golden and black-backed jackal, zebra, cheetah, leopard and spotted hyena. Hundreds of bird species refresh themselves in the small lakes on the crater floor. In the evening we return to the lodge.

Meals: All meals

The safari with Tony as our tour operator and guide was absolutely great in every aspect. The hospitality, the excellent knowledge of the animals, nature, the country and its people, the absolute reliability and care, the superb service and all the details covered, just excellent. I would go with Tony and his company any day again. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Asante sana.

Knowledgeable and very respectful with animals.

The safari with Antony was amazing. We trusted him our itinerary and it was worth it. In my opinion, the best thing about it was his knowledge and how respectful he is with wildlife. It is amazing finding people that really love their job and show it.
