Day by day

A journey that builds with rhythm, not rush

Day 1

Arrival – Moshi

Karibu Tanzania. On arrival you will be met by our team and escorted to your accommodation in Moshi (approximately 45 km), on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro with a magnificent view of the mountain.

Meals: Breakfast
Day 2

Kilimanjaro day hike to Mandara Hut

A taste of Kilimanjaro without the summit. Drive to the Marangu gate, register and walk through lush rainforest to Mandara Hut, the first camp on the Marangu Route (8 km, 3–4 hours up, 1,860 m to 2,700 m). A side trip to Maundi Crater opens views over northern Tanzania and Kenya; look for towering trees, birdlife and colobus monkeys, and perhaps Mawenzi peak. After lunch, hike back to the gate and drive to Arusha.

Meals: All meals
Day 3

Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, check out and drive to Tarangire National Park for a full day of game viewing. Tarangire is home to large herds of elephant and other game, including the elusive leopard and over 400 bird species. The park's picturesque landscape is dotted with large baobab trees and takes its name from the Tarangire River that crosses it. During the dry season (around August to October) the river is the only source of water for the animals.

Meals: All meals
Day 4

Drive to the Serengeti

The legendary Serengeti Plain is your destination – a vast rolling plain with some of the best wildlife viewing in the world, famous for the migration and for predators year-round. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the way north. The evening is free to rest.

Meals: All meals
Day 5

Tracing the Big Five in the Serengeti

Spend the day exploring the vast Serengeti plains. The name 'Serengeti' comes from the Maasai language and means 'endless place'. The open savannah and wooded grassland are home to lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, elephant, giraffe and a host of plains game and birdlife. The Serengeti–Ngorongoro ecosystem hosts the Great Wildebeest Migration: millions of wildebeest and zebra moving year-round between Tanzania and Kenya, and in the early months of each year the short-grass plains become the setting for the calving season. In the evening, enjoy a sundowner with views across the plains.

Meals: All mealsOptional: Hot-air balloon safari – $546 per person
Day 6

Game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater

Descend 600 m into the crater for an in-depth exploration of this distinctive ecosystem – one of the best places in Africa to see the rare black rhino. Picnic beside the hippo pools, then continue through woodland with zebra and baboon, plains with hyena and a lake tinted pink with flamingos. Ascend in the afternoon to your lodge.

Meals: All meals
Day 7

Ngorongoro – Zanzibar

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar and three nights by the ocean.

Meals: Breakfast & dinner
Day 8

Zanzibar – free day

Enjoy free time to relax on the beach and swim, snorkel or dive in the clear, warm water. A cocktail and a golden sunset go hand in hand, so indulge as the sun melts away and day turns to night. In the evening, wander the white sands of Zanzibar; beach volleyball, table tennis and other games are available at the resort.

Meals: Breakfast & dinner
Day 9

Zanzibar – free day

Another slow day on the island – the beach, the reef, or a trip into Stone Town.

Meals: Breakfast & dinner
Day 10

Departure

Plan the day around your flight time; later you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.

Meals: Breakfast

It was a unique experience!!

We went on a 5 days Safari in Tanzania. We visit the Serengeti and Ngororo plains, around the Tarangire and Serengeti National Parks & the Ngororo crater. Big boss Antony designed an amazing programme and our guide Peter gave us a unique experience into the wild Africa. His magic eye was able to catch exotic animals, like cheetahs and rhinos, finding the perfect spot in a middle of a vast plain. My only complaint was that I had to go back to work 🤓 Miss you already, guys! What a wonderful adventure !!!

Tony is the Best. 10/10 recommendation plus 5 stars review. He went above and beyond on our trip.

This Past year we visited Tanzania , let me tell you how it went. From the moment our plane touched down, every aspect of our trip was meticulously managed. The airport transfers were seamless, and the selection of hotels and safari lodges provided truly top-tier comfort and amenities. Each accommodation was not only luxurious and well-appointed but also strategically chosen to enhance our overall experience. Tony our guide, consistently went above and beyond to ensure our family felt completely safe, comfortable and well cared for. His extensive knowledge of the wildlife, local culture and terrain was captivating, enriching every game drive and interactions. The entire expedition, from the breathtaking wildlife encounters to the impeccable logistical arrangements, was nothing short of spectacular. We wholeheartedly RECOMMEND Tony and BigfiveTrails to anyone seeking a truly unparalleled and profoundly memorable Tanzanian Safari experience. They deliver excellence in every detail.
